Why a Vehicle of Our Own Matters

ZIMAS needs its own vehicle for several reasons. Firstly, it will allow us to distribute sun protection materials such as sunscreen lotions, sunhats, and long-sleeved clothing to all areas across Zimbabwe, especially in remote areas where our most marginalized members reside. This will enhance accessibility and ensure that no one is left without the necessary means to protect their skin from harmful UV rays.

Additionally, having our own vehicle will facilitate awareness raising through community engagement programs. We can easily reach rural areas and towns that are distant from our head offices, enabling us to educate schools and communities about albinism. This increased accessibility will help spread awareness and promote inclusivity.

Moreover, the vehicle will enable us to swiftly respond to the transportation needs of skin cancer patients who require immediate hospital visits. We can safely ferry them to healthcare facilities, ensuring that they receive timely and necessary treatment.

Furthermore, with our own vehicle, we can conduct empowerment programs in all areas where they are needed. This will allow us to respond promptly to the empowerment needs of individuals with albinism, providing them with the tools, resources, and support they require to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Lastly, having our own vehicle will result in cost savings as we will no longer need to hire vehicles for our various programs and initiatives. These saved funds can then be redirected towards purchasing more sun protection materials and low vision devices, further enhancing the well-being and quality of life for individuals with albinism.
